More Thoughts on Design

The final two pages will focus on equipment and etiquette. I have formed a list of equipment that will likely be included on the page. There will be a breakdown of types of clubs (e.g., driver, putter, irons, wedges) and other equipment that I think would be useful to know. The page on etiquette will include anectodal items that I have encountered when playing and formal rules (United States Golf Association has a useful section on their website).

Tutorials

I've started to outline some of the concepts that I am going to include in the two tutorials. Each tutorial should be fairly straight forward with numbered instructions and then images to help clarify when necessary. I've also started to outline what images I am going to incorporate. I think I have a good grasp of how I want the tutorial pages to appear when the project is completed.

Page Design

I have decided what I will be including on my website. I will be designing 4 pages excluding the 3 that are required. The first page will be a tutorial on basics of swining a club. The second page will be a tutorial about putting. The third page will include information about equipment, (e.g., clubs, balls, shoes, etc.). The fourth page will include information about golf etiquette and behavior on the course. For the first three pages, I will be incorporating a significant amount of images that will help with explaining the tutorials and describing equipment.

More Details

There are several websites that offer golf instructions that I have used to improve my game and that I will use resources for the final project.

http://www.pga.com/improve/index.cfm
http://www.golftipsmag.com
http://www.golfreview.com

I don't think there will be too many challenges in regards to the development of this website. I am thinking about incorporating video files which I have worked with before so that could potentially be a challenge. Deciding upon the layout and background details also may be a challenging aspect to the developement process. Other than that, I am excited at the opportunity to use the skills learned in class to create a useful, interesting, and hopefully, aesthetically pleasing (not sure how strong my color coordination and layout design skills are) website.

Details

I think I am going to use earth tones to supplement the topic of golf. I am not exactly sure how I will mix the colors, but I will probably use greens, browns, and oranges which will hopefully be colors that viewers associate with golf. For the tutorials, I plan on including images of myself and my golf clubs for all of the demonstrations, which I will upload using a digital camera. I also plan on using Photoshop to include pointers or markers in the images that will accompany the text of the tutorials.

Introduction to Final Website

For the final project, I wanted to select a topic that would be interesting for users visiting the site and that I was knowledgeable in. I selected the topic of golf for the project, which was actually the first topic that came to my mind. I'm not extremely knowledgeable on the subject, but I think I know enough to create some mini tutorials. Creating tutorials would also provide me with the opportunity to use Photoshop to integrate images of golf swings, stances, grips, etc. For the 4 or 5 pages, I am hoping to create different tutorials or instructions on how to swing a club, putt, description of golf course etiquette, and possibly selecting golf clubs. Overall, I am very satisfied with the topic that I selected and I am excited to start constructing the website.
